Since these were the only gadget driven industry which required engineers of your caliber.So these Industry does and will always have openings for your caliber.
As an eg, The FMCG groups or the retail industry.Most or rather all of them would require to keep a count of their stocks and billing as well as monitor their customer.Though manpower is present, but it is difficult to handle these manually and hence gadgets are installed.Right from the bill desk to inventory management to peak a view, requires engineers like you.So definitely you have jobs there.But surely your focus would move from the hardcore engineering job to a broad engineering skill set. Basically troubleshooting.
Rather than this, my advise to you would be to focus on the core area and industry that demands your caliber.
