Indian Medicine manufacturing ranks 3rd in the world.So there are quite good career opportunities for the students of Biology and Pharmacy. Pharamacovigiliance is one of the new branch in Pharmacy having good career opportunities.
By the intake of Medicines their are some immediate and after a period of time their are some side effects happens, so understanding the side effects of the medicines and how to control those side effects is the science of Pharamcovigilance. Pharamacovigilance stop the supply of the harmful medicines in the market and supply the safe medicines in the market. A profesional Pharamacovigilance persons work is to keep an eye on the events, to make the records of the documents,keep the track of the database of the harmful medicine,making the entries in the safe data base,coding the harmful events,comparing the past harmful events with the current events if any occurred etc. is the work of the Pharamacovigilance.
In order to make a career in Pharamacovigilance one needs to have certain eligibility criteria-1. One must have scored minimum 50% in Biology/ graduate in Botany,Zoology,Biochemistry,Microbiology,Genetics, Biotech. any one subject.2.have scored Minimum 50% in chemistry graduation or Pharmaceutical Graduate or Post Graduate.3.A Medicine Graduate or Post Graduate can do a certificate or diploma course in Pharmacovigiliance. While a Pharmacy student can aslo apply for the courses.
