Mtech in maths will be the better option IIT JAM.
Key Difference between both:
Some of the course of MSc is already studied in BTech and so the M.Tech course becomes different. mtech contains more part of computing and statistics

The answer to your question about - MSc Maths after IIT-JAM vs M.tech in Mathematics after GATE depends upon your graduation. If you have done B.Sc. then you are not eligible for the M.Tech course through GATE. Because for GATE, you have to complete your graduation in Bachelors in Technology. So, IIT JAM is not an option for you. But, if you have done B.Tech, then you will be eligible for both M.Tech as well as IIT JAM, depending upon your course. You have to be eligible for appearing in the exam. To know the eligibility criteria, click on IIT JAM. But as you have done your graduation in B.Tech, then it will be more beneficial for you to go for the M.Tech exam by cracking the GATE exam. But if you have interest in research and all, then IIT JAM will be more beneficial for you than GATE.
