GATE is an all-India examination that is organized to get admission in different postgraduate courses of engineering such as M.E, M.Tech and etc that are offered by the various NITs and IITs. It ia is an online computer based exam.
STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED-
In this process, candidates who qualified the GATE exam can register themselves. After registration, candidates will pay the counselling fee online and confirm their registration. After paying the fee candidates will be able to fill their programmes choices and institutions.
On the premises of their choice, candidates will be offered seats in order of merit list over multiple round of allotment. After the seat allotments candidates will personally reported to the allotted institutions and pay the course fee.
At the time of the admission process, candidates get their original documents that are verified by the institutions. Candidates will be issued a provisional admission letter on satisfactory verification of all the documents and paid requisite fee. Within a specified time period, candidates will confirm their admission. If a candidate will not confirm the admission then the seat will be allotted to the other candidate.
GATE Counselling for NITs, IISC, IITDM-
The admission to the M.tech in NIT’s will done through CCMT counselling. After the announcement of the result, the GATE Counselling will be started. The GATE counselling will be organized by CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech. / M.Arch. /M.Plan). Through CCMT counselling candidates will be selected to get admission in various NITs, IISC, IITDM.The counselling will be organized separately and independently by each institution/universities of the NITs.
GATE Counselling for IITs-
IITs also conducted their own counselling procedure. The IITs and IIITs will declare a notification regarding to counselling. Candidates who meet the institution qualification criteria can apply for the notification. On the basis of the GATE score card and academics performance will be taken into consideration. After that candidates will be called for the interviews or GD Test. The seat will be allotted to the candidates on the premises of their performance in those tests.
