Civil service examination is one of the great career options for the students who wish to make a career in the government sector. Civil services exams are conducted by the Union Public Service Commission Board. The civil service exams are also called as the UPSC exams. Under the UPSC exam there are several posts that are offered like IAS, IPS, IFS, IES etc. student can apply for any of the posts as per their choice .

These posts are the Class I officer post and hence they come under the Central Government. Civil Service career is considered to be highly respected and prestigious career option in the society.

IPS – Indian Police Service is the Class I post offered under the Police Services. In order to apply for this post you need to give an UPSC exam.

To be eligible for the UPSC exam – A candidate should have completed a Graduation Degree from any stream from a recognized university. After completing the graduation degree you can apply for the UPSC exam. The application of the exam is to be submitted online and the exam fees is to be paid in the bank as prescribed in the application.

To be eligible for the UPSC exam one also needs to meet the age criteria is as follows-

1. General Candidate- 20 years to 32 years

2.OBC - 20 to 35 years (3 years age relaxation)

3.SC/ST- 20 to 37 Years (5 years age relaxation)

 Whereas their is restriction for the no. of attempts to the exam which is as follows-

General Candidate can attempt 4 times , OBC candidate 7 times and SC/ST candidate - no limit till they meet the upper age limit.
