Dear Aspirant, good that you wan to join defense line. Here you have mentioned defense line, therefore, I will consider it for Indian Army. You have not mentioned what you are doing currently. I believethat you must be appearing in 10+2 of doing graduation. Let me explain you things in detail.



There are number of ways through which any one can commission in Army. You can join army right after school or after graduation in any discipline. In Indian army there are many types of commission, it is permanent as well short service commission. Permanent commission is granted through Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, Uttrakhand. The short service commission (SSC) is granted through Officers training Academy (OTA), Chennai. when you opt for a permanent commission, it mean you are looking for a permanent career in Army, if you opt for a short service commission, it means you are looking for a defense job only for few years. Short Service Commission is a wonderful and exciting option if you are looking for or aspire to work only for few years. It gives you option to join the army and serving it as a commissioned officer for ten tears. Once your tenure is over, based upon your performance you will be allowed for permanent commission. Alternatively, you can ask for extension for few years and you can resin from your post during this period. After resigning, you can apply for suitable jobs in civil as an ex army personnel.

You may join after 10+2 through NDA (National defense Academy), Kharkwasla, here you will become commissioned army officer besides doing your graduation. Every year two times, UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) advertise for a competitive examination. After passing the exam, you have appear in front of SSB (Service Selection Board), where physical, psychological and personnel interview will decide your fate.

After graduation, you will be eligible to appear in competitive exams conducted by UPSC (two times in a year), selection procedure is same as that of NDA.

You may also join army after dooing Engineering, by being an Agricultural Graduate or Veterinary graduate. There is also special entry for NCC (C) certificate for boys and girls.

Life in the defense forces means something more than just per suing any other regular job.



To be an officer in any of these three services, Army, Air force and Navy, apart from academic excellence, you must posses leadership skills, motivating spirits, strong determination, Intelligence, control of nerves, physical stamina. Your personality should reflect officer like qualities to succeed the rigorous tests that one has to undergo before being selected as an officer in the armed forces.



There are various ways to join defense forces as an officer like: NDA, CDS, Special entry scheme. If you adorn your career through NDA in defense forces, you have to face NDA entrance exam which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission, New Delhi after every six months. Eligibility of siting in this exam for Army is 10+2 with any stream and for Air Force and Navy is 10+2 with Physics and Maths, age for NDA Exam is 16.5 year to 19 years and nationality should be Indian. In NDA entrance exam, two exams like Mathematics and General ability test are conducted by Union Public service commission. After clearing NDA entrance exam, you have to face service selection board (SSB) Interview for six days on various center like Bhopal and Allahabad. After Final selection you have to take training for three year in National Defense Academy and one year in Indian Military Academy for Army .



If you want to adorn your career in Defense Forces through CDS, you have to face Combined Defense Services (CDS) exam which is conducted by Union Public Service Commission , NeW Delhi. After Clearing exam of CDS, you have to face SSB interview for six days . After clearing exam and SSB Interview , you have to complete one year six month training in Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.
