There are quite a many myths associated with the work of Tourist Guides or Tourist Managers. They have been explained below:

1. Most people think that a tourist guide's work is to lead the expedition all the time and go out for the trek every day. However they have to do plenty of other exercises too. They are not only supposed to go for trek or other expedition. In fact they rarely go for that.

2. There is a common tendency among the people to assume that Tourist Guides have to work all throughout the year and that too every day. However this is not the case. They often take some time off for their vacation. In fact in some cases they may have to take rest for few months, specially during the off season when business is really not that great. Sometimes they will be flooded with their work while other times they will be free.

3. Some people think that the job of a tourist guide is too risky as they may have to go to the dangerous places and locations. But that again is just not true. If they go to such places they do a number of preparations and ensure that everything is in its place. They never leave it to the chances and therefore are not involved in any sort of risks. The planning part is therefore important for them and requires careful work done.

4. Many people think that this job is all about traveling and nothing else. Which again is a myth. Although tourist guides and managers have to travel quite a lot. This is not the only thing they do. they have to sit in their offices and do the managerial work too. They are also supposed to maintain the records, taking care of budgets, managing the funds and ensuring that everything is in the right place. Resource allocation is an important part of their work and they have to be really good at it.
