Hello

Thank you for choosing CareerGuide.com!!! and writing to us. Computer science is vast that includes software applications and languages. Accordingly their career options also get diverged. As a computer science graduate one can either progress into further studies or simply choose to work for software companies. For a good example, please have a look at the picture below.

Computer Engineer

As a computer science graduate, the conventional route one may take to purse their career is into IT management or Software engineering industry. they could typically be employed as IT Specialist, Data specialist, Software engineering, Program engineer, Application engineer, Application developer, Program developer, Application tester, Network support, Program support, Network engineer, System analyst and so on. These are some of the starting roles one may take up and potentially become the domain lead after achieving the required mastery skills in that field.

It is never necessary that computer science graduates need to typically work for IT Management or only software industries. They could also take diversion into careers that require certain computer specialist skills. There are industries other than software that requires skills of computer applications. But at times the person may be required to take up additional training to be successful in such fields. So a computer science graduate could also work for beauty industry, biotech industry (remember - bioinformatics subject is partly based on computer programming?) where they could design molecules on computer, designing industry where the designs are plotted or drawn using specific computer graphic softwares, architecture designing where the building plans and design are also constructed/plotted using specific drawing softwares, human resource managing industry where SAP is incorporated to database to handle existing employees of the company and automobile engineering sector where car or bike designs are designed on computer using specific programs like the CAD software.

If the graduate is not interested in going into work, they can also pursue further education like the Master of Computer applications, Master of Computer science, Master of Information science, Master of Information management and so on. Completing a two year master degree, they could opt to do a three year PhD and chieve Doctorate degree.

Hope this helps.

Dear Aspirant
Thank you very much for contacting CareerGuide.com which is destined for the best counselling. It seems you are at pre-matured stage in education system where you are trying to understand the future prospective of computer which can not be understood without your self study and a sense of compatibility in terms of academic fitness of candidate and the targeted subject which is computer for your example. This is our systemic fault in India where aspirants seem to be confused and not showing any internal confidence at school level and just after schooling (after 10th ) they get confused and rather get mislead by local fancy references for the job related myth.
I am not saying that job should not be a criteria before opting any stream it is the primafacy but we must know that subject can not decide your career rather it will give you a path to make something extra ordinary what you look from a subject, teacher and institution. We need to think differently and initiate a new thought to explain the best possibility with your hard labour and intelligent approach.

Computer Engineer

I am trying to say that you yourself know the prospective of computer sciences which is possible with the implication of your school standard what you have gone through. You need to know the pre-requisitesof computer sciences to graduate yourself in the same subject and then take admission. Firs you need to know that what type of course you are going to explore in computer --is it >computer sciences or computer engineering again at B.Tech degreesimilarly you look for hardware diploma or software diploma I am not sure it is you who will analyse everything based on your background. Background with Physics, Chemistry and Maths at twelve level is mandatory. Either you can go for BCA which also offers the computer technology.
Computer sciences or Engineering offers you the best career which will be decided by certain factors like your individual continuous effort, competency, and self believe keep them on your track with the positive attitude.
As far as job is concerned computer is the need of our so this technology is beng complimented everywhere you need to strike the ball with the focussed way.

Good luck !
