Hello,

Medical is an excellent and prestigious career field for any one on the Earth. I shall explain first on how to study a medical professional degree and a medical non-professional degree and then explain the types of careers you can do under each stream.

Physics, Chemistry and Biology PCB route:
This is the first route for students who wanted to work in a non-professional medical career. Choosing PCB route will let you study three year degree courses like the BSc courses in respective science subjects. Completing the BSc course you can work in medical jobs but not as professional careers. Through PCB route you can study the following courses.

Bsc in Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Bio-organic chemistry, Biotechnology, Industrial biotechnology, Medical biotechnology, Environmental science, medical lab technology, genetics, plant biotechnology, animal biotechnology and many more. After these degrees at the BSc level, you can do a MSc and finally a PhD degree. Completing the PhD, you are eligible to work as researchers, scientists and also as faculties and professors at universities. After the BSc/ MSc/ PhD you can work for any science field at hospitals, and private companies.

Salary: You can expect a starting pay of 12000 after completing the BSc and a starting pay of 18000 after completing the MSc and above 30000 per month after completing the PhD.

Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology PCMB:
If you also study maths at school HSC level, then you are eligible to study the following professional courses. As you aspire to become a Doctor in future, you definitely need to study in this PCMB route as maths is the mandatory subject to study the following professional streams.

Engineering allied subjects:
  • BTech Industrial biotechnology
  • BTech Chemical engineering
  • BTech Bio informatics
  • BTech Biomedical engineering
  • BTech Environmental engineering
Completing this BTech you can progress to do an MTech and finally a PhD. A BTech graduate can expect a pay of above 15000 to 25000 per month, an MTech graduate can expect a pay of about 20000-30000 per month and a PhD can expect a pay of more than 35000 per month.

Medical degrees:
  • MBBS - Bachelor of medicine and surgery
  • BDS - Bachelor of dental surgery
  • BAMS - Bachelor of ayurveda medicine and surgery
  • BHMS - Bachelor of homeopathy medicine and surgery
All the above four are professional degrees and you can expect a minimum pay of 25000 per month for starters. there are also many advanced degrees in these above lines and completing it you can expect a pay of more than 50000 to 1lakh per month.

Para medical degrees:
These two are para medical courses and completing it you can expect a pay of more than 18000 per month initially and then it rises as per qualification and experience.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
