Hi There,
Though I do not disagree that there are training Institutes for pursuing a career as a Radio jockey.
But my opinion i that, certain qualities like being an extrovert, an extempo, stage presence etc are qualities that cannot be taught, they are natural to people.
So before you get into any formal training, try and gauge yourself for the above mentioned qualities.Try conducting an event or a party.
Hope this helps.Wish you good luck...
Dear Student,
Thanks for writing to www.careerguide.com
Radio Jockey or RJ doesn't require any formal education or training and there are currently no courses available for the same as stated by Career Expert Ms. Meghna. However, if you wish to be an RJ you need to have amazing and very good communication skills. You also need to be spontaneous and quick and your choice of words must be so crisp and minimal that your message is understood easily, quickly and without boredom. Language is another area you need to focus as there are many slots and shows that RJs are specifically assigned. For instance, a show playing all English songs will have RJ who has exceptionally good English language skills and will majorly communicate in English. An Urdu section will have a host well versed in that language. Apart from the knowledge of Language, you need to be well updated about current happenings as in between an RJ is also giving away lot of information in form of news, current happenings in the city, traffic and weather updates. Also, there are many guests usually film stars or daily soap stars, doctors and other professionals visiting the Radio Station so you need to have an unbiased opinion and also be tolerant towards the opposite person's views. Multitasking is another skill you need to be good at.
If you plan to take this profession seriously then you can think of taking Voice and Accent training which will help you to have impact through your voice. Also this training will be helpful to you if you wish to be dubbing artist too.
I hope this has been useful. Wish you all the best for your Bright future!
Thanks & Regards,Dr. Apurva Kumar Pandya, PhD

Mr. Ramashwamy N., is a retired Engineer with four-decades of work-experience within India's government-owned national media providers All India Radio (A.I.R.) and Door Dharshan Kendra ( D.D.K.). The fact that he was a first-gen graduate from his family and town and a first-gen central government employee (a coveted employment status in even a present Indians' mind), never crippled his art of humility and perfection. This innate talent with his amicable persona has taken him far and wide in its literal sense within India and abroad. Hailing from a typical Tamil family which has ethics deeply engrained in his veins, Mr. Ramashwamy has always opined the right to remain the righteous. His sheer courage made him become a first-gen entreprenuer investing in some of first-gen projects such as TV dealership - TV Traders which later became TV Tronics - which existed for over three decades. In another first, Mr. Ramashwamy pioneered in the distribution of Cable TV successfully in Chennai, India where yet again he was extremely successful in the same. Now, upon seeing his son affected with certain very prominent foreign education agencies, education-wise and professionally, which take their prominence for granted, Mr. Ramashwamy along with his son, has invested in yet another ethical opportunity - Scholarclips International Education. The company was incorporated in 2012 and has revived itself in 2015. Please note, our company does not support, encourage or believe in such 'paid-ethics' certifications including AIRC. Ethics is not something we buy or sell. We are interested to partner with ethical, reputed & recognized Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from across the world.
