Dear Aspirant,

The NET requires as eligibility criteria, one to pass the Post Graduation degree course from a recognized university. Having a Master Degree is foremost important eligibility criteria for appearing in the NET exam.  Your question is a bit confusing as you have mentioned PG in B.Sc. If you have completed your PG with other required criteria, then you can appear for the exam.

Eligibility criteria for NET Exam:

  • A candidate should have post-graduate Master Degree with minimum 55% (Without Rounding off)
  • 5% has been relaxed for OBC, SC, ST, PWD category. These candidates required only 50% at their Master level education, to be eligible
  • You are required to choose your PG level Subject for the NEET exam.
  • Ph.D. holder having their Master completed prior to 1989, are now required to posses 50% marks in their Master Degree.

After having completed M.Sc. with 55% marks (50% for specified categories and Ph.D. holders with Masters prior to 1989) you will become eligible for appearing in the NET exam. This exam offers you Assistant Professorship and Junior level Research Fellowship (JRF) at the national level. You become eligible to do lectureship all over India in Colleges/Universities. This is the only eligibility test approved by the government for a lectureship at all India level.
