Dear Aspirant, As a fishery scientist, the scopes are vast and sky is the limit for a hard working and dedicated person.

Lets first discuss about the scope of a Fishery Scientist, as the name suggest "scientist" it means you will work as researcher in an organization or institute of university. Here your nature of job will be to teach the subject/s of fishery science or Fish Technology to undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree students. So you will also work as a teacher, besides being scientist, you will also supposed to carry out research projects. You have to work in collaboration with your institute colleagues or people with other organization. You can also work independently, but it is always advisable to work as a team to produce better results. You will be able to report new research results.

The scope other than being teacher or scientist will be in Fish Industries, which are involved in rearing, breeding and exporting of variety of fishes. Here the scope of teaching will be negligible, but you have to train the persons associated with you for basic training, what you have learned during your studies.
Obviously the persons whom you will impart training will be technical persons, who will be your helping hands, and later you will just monitor them. Other than training you will also look after some management aspects related to your field. You may be given some small tasks of fish nutrition or fish breeding or new technique to keep the fishes for long time without being any spoilage.

The relevancy of doing higher studies, here higher studies means a doctoral degree. Even a person with masters degree will not get that much growth, which a person with doctoral degree will achieve.
A person with doctoral degree in Fishery, will be specialized person, with more technical knowledge in that particular field. The persons will be able to conceptualize new thoughts, new ideas and methods or techniques to achieve them, which a person with masters degree will not be able to perform.
The relevancy of higher studies for a Fish Scientist is important, because in educational or scientific line, the people with doctoral degree are preferred and they out compete the masters degree students. Therefore, for personal growth and to compete others, higher study is must to become a Fishery Scientist.

Good Luck...
