You need to be good in Interpersonal skill-more skilled implies more satisfaction in job. Dietician's preliminary work is to understand clients' likeness and his/her own food habits-so it depends on your interpersonal skill-it is dietician who helps the clients to report his/her food habits, food choices, food preferences and his/her illness & restriction etc. in detail-as clients can not answer spontaneously-he can answer when he/she is asked for.
Clients' briefing is most important as dieticians will make Food Chart on the basis of it.

Though clients have food restrictions but in making food chart a dietician needs to give importance in the clients' satisfaction - as it brings happiness in life.
Dieticians having great interpersonal skill can face professional success soon and better than others.

Hello friend,

The dietician job is to interact regularly with customers, who visits for health related issues. The dietician plan food and nutrition programs for their patients. The interaction between a dietician and a patient should be cordial and two ways. If a dietician is unable to convey the meaning of her or his view then the link between patient and a dietician does not takes place. The dietician then cannot be a successful person.

The interpersonal skills are the life skills which we use every day with other when ever we interact with them whether in group or with an individual. People who have worked on their interpersonal skills are very successful in their personal and professional life. The interpersonal skills are also known as soft skills, peoples skills, communication skills and life skills.

Being dietician, you may join a clinic or hospital. The employers also hire those person who are having strong interpersonal skills, because one has to work in a team, and one should be able to interact and communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and clients.

People who have strong interpersonal skills are considered to be calm, cool, confident, optimistic and charismatic.

The common interpersonal skills are as :

  1. Verbal communication skills; how to say and what to say, whatever we say, it should have a meaning. We should use less and effective word to convey our meaning a a very simple way.

  2. Non verbal communication skills: here we do not say any thing but pour body language conveys the meaning, for example our eyes tells the meaning to other.

  3. Listening skills; one should be a good listener, if we do not listen carefully to others, then we will not be able to understand the person.

  4. Negotiation skills; how to negotiate with others and come to a common decision amicably and amiably. Here you should have convincing ability so that you can easily convince your patients or clients.

  5. Problem solving; working with others to identify, define and solve the problems of your clients.

  6. Anger management; being dietician you are not supposed to show anger, you have to deal with your clients, colleagues in a very friendly way.

The bottom line is that one should observe and analyze one's behavior, if there is some lacking then with little efforts one can improve the interpersonal skills.
