Dear friend, many thanks for your question, here you have not mentioned your academic background and what you are doing at present. The dietician are expert in food and nutrition, they advice people what to eat, what to eat, to lead a healthy life style or achieve a specific health related goal. They work in variety of settings, from personal clinics to hospitals or to social community centers to guide the people. They also supervise meal preparation, and advice according to the age, weight and gender of the person.

They prevent and treat illness by promoting healthy eating habits and recommending dietary modifications. For example, a dietician might suggest a patient with high blood pressure, how to use less slat during preparation of a meal, and how to use less fat and sugar for a over weight person.

The dieticians also manage food services system for institutions such as, schools, hospitals, offices, community centers and promote sound eating habits through education and also conduct research to collect data on the basis if their recommended diets.

Many dietician also specialize as clinical dietician, child dietician, community dietician, management dietician and consultant.





The main work and responsibilities of a dietician are:

1. Counsel individual and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life.

2. Assess nutrient needs, diet restrictions, and current health plan and develop and implement dietary care plans and provide nutritional counseling.

3. Advice patients and their families on nutritional principle and dietary plans and diet modifications, and food selection and preparations.

4. Consult your physicians and health related personals to determine nutritional needs and diet restriction of patients or client.

5. Monitor food service operation to enforce, conformance to nutritional safety, sanitation and quality standards.

6. Organize, develop, analyze tests and prepared special meals such as low fat, low salt, low cholesterol and low sugar meals with great acceptable taste.

7. Purchase and recommend foods as per the health and safety codes.

8. Coordinate diet counseling services.

9. Plan, conduct and evaluate dietary, nutritional and epidemiology research.

10. Write research reports and other publications to document and communicate and to spread the awareness about the healthy aspects.

11. Test new products and food related equipment.
