Hi,
The zoologist is a person who study the animals, their behavior, distribution, classification and physiology in their habitat and also in captivity. The zoologist may also be in involved in breeding aspects of animals. Technically speaking the zoologist is a person who has obtained a post graduate degree in zoology.
Just imagine that a 12 standard student or a graduate student who has studied some basic aspects of animal biology and perform the duties of zoologist. This is not possible. The reason is that during 12 and graduation some background of zoology subject has been taught.
A zoologist work at many platforms, as a teacher in school, as lecturer in colleges as a professor in universities as a scientist in research institutions. Without sound or proper knowledge of the subject, it is not possible to justify with the job. A school teacher or a lecturer can only teach the students, only if he or she has excellent knowledge of zoology.
On the other hand a professor has to interact with students of graduation, post graduation and doctoral degree. The students usually asks questions, that only can be answered by the person who has sound knowledge of the subject. On the other hand the zoology does not mean the study of animals, the subject now has many sub divisions or specializations. These specialization could be land animals, marine animals, microscopic animals, some reproductive or physiological aspects of animals. Therefore, a person has to study about a particular zoology stream and become specialized. Some zoologist are working on molecular aspects, some are working on nutritional aspects, some are working on pathological aspects. Therefore, a sound knowledge is very important to sustain the field and also to progress in the field. It is just like, if a doctor does not have sound knowledge of subject or any disease, how he or she can treat the patients. That will not be good for the doctor an for the patients also.A zoologist could work work in laboratory to study the small animals, or a zoologist may work in fields to study the animals, their behavior in their natural habitat. Therefore, a sound knowledge of science or specialized zoology stream is very important to make other understand the subject as well as to progress in the field also. With all my best wishes,Good Luck....
