Please watch the video below to understand the career in Bio-Technology and see the points after that for the day's activities of a Bio-Technologist:

List of activities in day to day's work:

  • Entry level Bio-Technologists work in the laboratories and sets up the equipments and instruments for the experiments.
  • They maintain the records, collect data and do the analysis for senior scientists.
  • At senior positions, Bio-Technologists design processes and conduct studies.
  • In certain cases, Bio-Technologists also lead the team of researchers in their exeriment.
  • If one is working in a college or university, majority of their time is spent in doing the research. They are also required to take the lectures.
  • They have to maintain the regular communication with the technology and the research team through emails and phone.
Therefore the typiical day of a Bio-Technologist is quite challenging and the work is really exciting.

Typical day of a biologist is very interesting for a lay man but seems to be very fragile and monotonus both according to the requirement of experiment for a day.

Though following DO'S AND DONT'S are there as thumbrules which every biotechnologist follow in day to day practice and routine work:

1. Puntuality / discipline is the key for a successful day, so they set the experiment keeoing variable factors in mind and then follow the research
2. Before setting the experiment certain common things are imoprtant for all:
a. Daily entry into the log book of each instrument what you are going to use so book the instrument in
advance so that cross talk between the researchers will be avoided for the same equipement. After
the use of instrument they logg off successfully. it has another advantage also to know the safety use
and report card of an instrument.
3. Once you inside the lab then must avoid eating, smoking, gossiping, restricted use of internet for scientific purpose only there sould not be any social chat, wearing lab coat / apron use slipper inside dedicted for lab floor etc.

4. If they go inside asceptic condition for processing any sample then must wear mask, eye galss, apron in order to check the contaminations of microbes as you know human body carries microbes-bacteria, fungus etc so take the measure otherwise experimental samples will be contaminated then result be different.
6. Before they setting any experiment must check the stock of chemical, kits, instruments, and then protocol in hand, if you have already initiated the experiment and then start to check the requisites then it is a wastage of time and money both and afterall you are wasting others time too and your entire project will be delayed.
7. For a running lab a research group works under proper guidance and the authority just like other business so a group of scientist works under a leader called group leader/ supervisor/principal investigator .
8. A group has different types of manpower; in an order: Group leader----Senior scientist---Postdocs--Ph.D Scholars--Technician / Resaerch Assistant---Lab attendent
These all have the difened work distributions and they work in colleboration and share the credential jointly and independently depends on the kind of work.
