Marine Engineers work includes taking care of the components of the ship and ensure the maintenance of different parts of it - main engine, steering mechanism, power generation etc. They also have to ensure that the ship's design and compnents meet the regulations devised for its safety. They do that by working on the software designed for this specific purpose. They have the overall responsibility of testing and troubleshooting the design before it enters the service.
