Hi Rohit,
Let us come to the topic straightaway. For your question, I would say there is no exact pattern which may fit for all IIMs alike but different IIMs have different sets of accepted CAT score which will be varying for every CAT every year.
Generally speaking, CAT (Common Admission Test) which is the major part of the Selection process for the IIMs (Indian Institute of Management) has no strict relation with the score but it relatively depends on how well all candidates perform in the test. The score of the CAT is normalized in %ile (Percentile). You might have heard that someone need 99%ile marks in CAT for getting Interview Call from IIMs and it is true somewhat as the candidates who score well above 97%ile have fair chances of getting an interview call from IIMs. For top six IIMs with IIM-Ahmadabad topping the list you are required to score more than 98%ile and sometimes even more than 99%ile for becoming one of the chosen few who receive an interview call from the selected top IIMs. For other remaining IIMs the score above 97%ile may work but for to be in the safe zone, you should be prepared for 99%ile.
So, you have come to know how much one should score for to be selected for Personal Interview and Writing Skill Assessment Test (WSAT) of IIMs. Still not only this CAT score matter but your academic performance and Group Discussion (GD) performance as well, as many who got above 98%ile score in CAT but just fell short of desired marks at the academic level, have been rejected and not called on for Personal Interview (PI). Some senior aspirants say that you need to have minimum above 80% marks at the academic level (yes there will be relaxation for categories) to receive an Interview Call from IIMs. So, you need to balance at both levels, i.e. at the academic level and in CAT.
Pattern of the CAT
There will be three sections containing 100 questions for 180 minutes.

It’s pleasant discussing on this type of queries. Wish you all the best!
Hi,
To be precise, nobody can answer this type of questions simply because all institutes change their selection criteria (for GD/PI call) every year, and some of them don't even disclose it.
Otherwise the IIM selection criteria is: In the first step, candidates are short-listed for personal interviews from among candidates who have a valid CAT percentile who have applied for the pro-gramme and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the pro gramme .A candidate's prior academic record is also used in the short-listing process.
Short listing Criterion: 70% weight-age is given to the CAT score and 30% weight-age is given to other aspects- Percentage Score in 10th Std. Exam, 12th exam, Graduation, work experience if any.
Interview rounds and Written test is also conducted in few IIM’s.
Best of Luck!
