Because of the tremendous construction, industrial development and issues such as global warming coming up, the role of environmental engineers has undergone a tremendous change.


If you are someone who is concerned about the environmental pollution and keen to establish the right for clean environment , then opt for a career in environmental science. Using the principles of biology and chemistry , environmental engineers and scientists develop solution to environmental problems.



They are involved in water and air pollution control, recycling waste disposal and public health issues. Environmental engineers conduct hazardous waste management studies in which they evaluate the significance of the hazard, offer analysis on treatment and containment and develop regulations to control mishaps. Environmental engineers are concerned with local and worldwide environmental issues.





They study and attempt to minimize the effects of acid rain, global warming, automobile emissions and ozone depletion. They are also involved in the protection of wildlife. Career options in this field are immense today. The career scope in this field is widening in India as well as abroad.The career options for environmental engineers are :-



Engineers- Develop and modify systems to keep environment clean and safe for living . Jobs are available in pollution control units, water and sewage treatment plants, public health engineering departments etc.





Research officer/ Project Officer / Consultants- Those who have academic excellence in this field may work as project officer , research officer or as consultant. They are concerned with educating masses and making them aware of natural environment and look after a specified research project relating to environmental issues.





Scientists- Involved in toxicity testing and evaluation of industrial chemicals and are responsible for increasing the efficiency of pollution control systems.


Teaching- Those who have a post graduate degree in the field of environmental science and with a doctoral work may take up teaching profession.
