There are a number of non technical courses that you can take during your school or college if you want to become environmental engineer and which will be extremely helpful for you in the long runs. In fact most of the courses would be non technical ones in this field. Below is the list of few of the courses that will help you out:

1. You should take up the courses related to geography, environment and physics. These will help you understand the environment in a much better way and also about the things that affect the environment. Once you get aware about all this only then you can become the right professional to contribute in the field of environmental engineering.

2. You can take up the courses in health education so that you can understand the various factors that affect the health of man and other animals. These issues will enable you to realize that there are certain things in the environment that are useful while others could be harmful. How to create a balance in the environment so that it doesn't affect the health of the people is an important challenge and you need to tackle it with your skills and knowledge.

3. You should also take up the course in basic economics. This is extremely important as a number of your decisions while working as an environmental engineer will be limited by the economy of your organization and also the nation. You need to understand the pros and cons of every decision that you take and therefore the role of economics becomes important. Also while working in various organizations, with the understanding of economics you will be in a much better position to deal with the decision making processes and the discussions with management people if you are better in your economics.
