I am sure you are aware IAS, is a part of the Civil Service examination conducted by the UPSC.
As such Civil Service exams are divided into 3 rounds. Namely, Prelims, which is the objective kind of questions asked, which is generally conducted around august, followed by Mains, which is the theory paper, conducted around December. This is the main subject paper, whereby the subject that you select, it can be any subject of your choice from a list of subjects approved which you will find on their website. The subject you choose, you must have an in-depth information, just from the scratch to their current happenings, research done, their gurus etc.This is followed by an Interview. Once you clear the main exam, then shortlisted candidates are called for the interview. round.Generally here they are interested in your reasoning capacity and your sense of humor.
