Hi Preeti,
If you are interested in Management in the near future,a why are you pursuing course?????
Since the Finals in Care the toughest of all the levels.
Anyways that is your personal choice.
Coming back to your question.
To pursue MBA from IIM, you need to clear CAT, the only entrance exam which is the eligibility for IIM's. Not only clearing the exam but you need to be amongst the topper, your percentile needs to be highest to get call from IIM.
But it does not end with just clearing the entrance exam. You need to then appear for the Group discussion followed by Personal Interview.
Entrance exam definitely preparations are required, for which you could join classes too. But more preparations are required to clear GD and PI.
For Group Discussions, you must be aware of the latest as well as related stories or connected stories, from all backgrounds right from politics to history to sports to personal care etc.,
Just being prepared or having the information is not enough. Being able to articulate it is important, without being argumentive or defensive but sticking to your point.
Hence reading is must. Whatever you can put your hands on.
also important is discussing what you have read with elders, teachers and lastly friends
For Personal Interview, simple questions related to your hobby, interests, likes nd dislikes, aim in life, where do you see yourself 5 years down the future etc.
answer needs to be in general but unique.
So get into the preparation mode S P.
Hope this helps
Wish you good luck......
Dear Aspirant,
I agree with Ms. Meghna .
How did you arrive at the thought that management is of more interest to you? Did anybody tell you or have you read about it anywhere or have you found reason to discontinue Chartered accountancy studies and course?
Chartered accountancy itself is wonderful and complete course in the technical world of commerce. You are doing your internship as well and you wish to think for MBA from IIM.
In the industry, there are Chartered accountants who have also done MBA from IIM. Why dont you think for this option? CA +MBA form IIM is unique and wonderful qualification to begin your career with top MNCs.
I think you should re think on your decision to leave CA and go for MBA . MBA from IIM is very tough and it should not happen that you start thinking after joining MBA that CA was easier or better than MBA .
Best wishes

Thanks for visiting us and writing us your career query.
Many a times it happens while we are pursuing a particular career we realise that we are not interested in doing it rather we have an interest in some other field. Many a times we select a career either under the pressure or on the guidelines of the Parents. While many times due to unawareness about the career opportunities we select the career on the guidelines of the friends, teachers etc.
As you have discovered that you have an interest to make your career in the Management field thats the good part and you have come to the right place to get sort out your career query.
As you have started your CA articleship that means you have completed your IPCC group. Well preeti in order to go for the MBA you need to have completed your Graduation Degree from any stream. Do you have completed any degree like B.com,B.Sc etc. If you are thinking that CA is a degree than no its not a degree. CA is considered as the Professional Parttime Degree;you need to have a full time degree.
In order to get admitted for MBA one needs to give an entrance exam CMAT. On clearing the CMAT exam you get admitted for the MBA course.
In order to get into IIM for MBA one needs to give an entrance exam of CAT and than on clearing the same one can get into MBA course.
While there are many other entrance exams for other institutes like SNAP,XAT,MAT,ATMA etc.
In order to get into the IIM you need to work hard and score well in the CAT. Apart from IIM you ca also apply to the other institutes which are top in MBA courses-
1.Symbiosis School of Management
2.Xaviers instiute of Management
3.Narsee Moonje Institute of Management
4.XLRI
5.Welingkar Institute
These are some of the B-Schools where you can also go for the MBA course.
Whereas you also have an option of completing your CA and than you can go for the MBA in Finance which is a great combination and also have a great scope in the career opportunities.
Think of this option also having an CA+MBA.
I hope you find this information useful and helpful.
Feel fee to get in touch again.
Wish you Good Luck
Thank You
