I require Career decision guidance. Please guide.

I completed my B.Tech in ECE in 2012. Got to know about GATE, IES exams much later in 4 year of B.Tech. Did not prepare much. Appeared for GATE in 2012 and score was 1 mark less than passing marks. Got placed in IT company and have been working there for 1.5 years as software developer. My college had 1 person 1 company policy. Couldnt sit for ECE/Telecom companies after my placement. Appeared for an ECE company but could not crack it as was not prepared. Wanted a break from studies so joined IT company thinking I will make a decision in 1 or 2 years. 1. I have been very confused b/w MBA, M.tech, M.S., IAS that what exactly should i do further. Guidance needed. 2. Should i prepare for GATE now after working for 1.5 years in IT field? 3. I have financial problems too.

Hello dear ...

I would say being a B tech and working in IT filed is not an issue as companies now a days are focusing more on knowledge not on career choices. Again you want to go for further studies and need to decide between all above mentioned options, I think GATE will be good for you as you already appeared one time and have understanding and idea about the same, so it will be easy for you to prepare for it. Do not resign from job or leave job, you prepare side by side when ever you are getting time for GATE as you have financial problem too, so doing a job will support you financially too.

As you are little away from your destination just 1 mark away as per last attempt you can fill the gap easily. So go for it and give your best this time.

Apart from all this I would say do not get confuse between so many career choices, if you have selected already something go with it with full commitment and dedications, success will come on its own no need to worry so much about future. struggle is there in every ones life, all face this situation in some or the other day in life face it with full confidence and power, The only way to reach your target is hard work, give little more time and labor you will succeed for sure. As said No pain No gain, pain is over gain will come soon, just wait for the right time, do not be in hurry.

Hope you got your answer and now will be in confidence and focus on your job and will do side by side preparations for securing your future too, which is the only choice I think suitable for you as per your query .

All the best for future and may God give you strength and patience to face your obstacles and make you a winner.

Thank you

Hello There My Dear...

BTech, MBA, MTech, IAS, MS..... You have varied choices and I can definitely understand that how you cannot make a decision to choose any one of them for a career. The very first impression I got from your query that nobody guided you at the time you took all those wrong decisions. Also I get to know from your query that you are not sincere and serious for your career and have taken everything casually and as a time pass.

I am sorry that I am saying this up frontt, but my dear, you have to accept this and move forward in such a way that you do not commit any more mistakes and be casual and easy going.

My Dear, we can surely help you in solving your confusion and I am glad that you approached us at CareerGuide.com for seeking guidance. My colleague here Ms. Sonia Agrawal has in an excellent way guided you, however I would like to tell you my perspective.

Firstly as said, you lacked seriousness and sincerity while preparing for GATE and also for appearing for interview test in a company. My Dear... you attitude needs to be changed.

What you can do now is get that attitude right, unless you get that right, you wont be able to do anything... neither job or course or life...

Before opting for MS, IAS, MTech or MBA, you need to very much assess yourself for suitability of you for those course. IAS studies are extremely high level and require hours of studies consistently. You will have to leave job and it may take another 2-3 years to clear IAS.

All thos option which you have mentioned are way different than each other and you cannot say that you are capable of doing any of those courses with the same level of interest, passion and ability. Therefore I would suggest you to under the pshychometric assessment from CareerGuide.com. The psychometric test tools are downloadeable from here and you can do the test all by yourself at your home. Only thing which is required is sincereity, honesty while appearing for the test.

If you have financial problems, I would suggest you to continue doing job and after 5 years of service you can do MBA part time or Executive MBA from one of the top rated institutes...

Best Luck
