To be honest it will. During my placements, my resume showed that I took 5 years to complete a 4 year B.Tech course. This point was a major reason for companies to turn down my application.

It's not exactly about how much marks you scored, they mainly see if you cleared subjects in the first attempt and then check your score. A 2 year yearback will just reflect badly on you.

But if you do get an interview, I am sure you'll do great. Scoring 80% is not an easy task. You will have to have a working knowledge of a lot of things to do so and I'm sure it'll help you crack the interview easily!

All the best.

If you go for direct interview then it will barely affect. Today is time when skills matter more than a degree. So don't be bothered.

The impact of taking longer than the typical duration to complete your undergraduate degree can vary depending on several factors, including the reasons for the extended timeline, your academic performance, and the policies of potential employers or graduate programs.

Here are a few considerations:

  1. Academic Performance: Your strong performance with above 80% marks in your Chemistry degree can be a significant asset when applying for placements or further education. Employers and graduate programs often prioritize candidates with a strong academic record, regardless of the time it took to complete their degree.

  2. Explanation for Delay: If you're asked about the extended timeline during job interviews or application processes, be prepared to provide a brief and honest explanation. Highlight any relevant experiences, skills, or personal growth gained during the additional years of study. If there were extenuating circumstances that contributed to the delay (e.g., health issues, family responsibilities), consider addressing them tactfully.

  3. Relevant Experience: Employers and graduate programs also value relevant experience and skills. Use your time during the extended degree period to gain practical experience through internships, research projects, part-time jobs, or extracurricular activities related to your field of study. Highlighting these experiences can demonstrate your readiness for the position or program.

  4. Networking and References: Networking and securing strong references can enhance your prospects during the placement process. Build relationships with professors, mentors, industry professionals, and alumni who can speak to your skills, work ethic, and potential contributions. [link name=google]https://google.com/[/link]

  5. Postgraduate Education: If you plan to pursue postgraduate education after your B.Sc., admissions committees typically consider various factors beyond academic transcripts, including research experience, letters of recommendation, personal statements, and standardized test scores (if applicable). Your strong academic performance can bolster your application, but be prepared to address any questions about the extended degree timeline.
