Hello Aspirant,

First of all,let us focus on you as a personthen on a dentist or an agricultural engineer. Don't you feel you have your ownpassion and interest's ? aims and ambition's? skills and talents? personality and aptitude? , definitely , yes. We all are blessed with , so first see yourself in this light and answer it. You should select a career based on the above and drive it rather than letting the careers drive you. There are pros and cons of every field and there are opportunities in whatever discipline you choose, you get to sieze the opportunity if there is a fine blendbetweenyour qualities and the career selected and success follows with experience.

Coming to your point, theeligibility criteria in NEET is that the candidate must pass the twelfth class examination with an aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and also passin English , and the eligibility foradmission into the MBBS/BDS course will be subject to medical Institutions and universities. For your information NEET 2014is replaced by AIPMT 2014. So go through the syllabus and sample papers and give it your best shot. Other than that you have numerous options open for you such as B.Pharm( Bachelor in Pharmacy), BUMS, BAMS, BHMS, Vetenary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Physio therapist and Radiologist etc.

You can go for agricultural engineering if you are really interested in learning the combined application of engineering and technological principles in one hand and plant biology, chemical and agricultural resource management principles on the other hand, in planning , supervising, development and installation of agricultural, horticultural and forestry machinery and processes. The job opportunitiesare plentiful and diverse in this field. You need to pursue a B.E. / B.Tech or a bachelors programme in agricultural engineering for entering thejob market. The best courses are available in Allahbad Agricultural Institute, Chandra Shekar Azad Agricultural university,Mahatma phule krishi vidyalaya,Agricultural universities of various states likeGujrat, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu, Odisha etc.

I would suggest you an ideal career assessment test and other psychometric test so that you can be sure of your strengths and qualities and then finally decide.

Hope you find the information helpful.

Dear aspirant

Thank you very much for approaching counsellors at Mera career guide and I am glad you decided to talk to us. Let me introduce myself before i start counselling you on this topic. I am Gomathi Venkat and i am a professional counsellor practicing in this industry for over 23 years now. I am a specialist in guidance and counselling on education choice and career line for students and all the other people. I am also the Managing Director of GV counselling group based in Bangalore and recently started in Chennai too.

I think a percentage of 75% is actually quite good to compete in NEET exam for BDS as the minimum eligibility criteria is only 50%. But you should also keep in mind the large number of students competing for the less number of seats in every college across India. So this requires you to be very competitive with high percentage. If you are from outside reserved category like the general category technically you should have a minimum of 90% to be successful with MBBS/ BDS admissions at government colleges. However, if you are from sc/st reservation category, even with a 75% it could be quite possible to secure such admissions. So my answer is, if you are from reserved category, put a little effort and try reaching a score above 75% and you can definitely get a place in BDS.

In case you cannot get through BDS, as you planned Agricultural engg may also help you. You can consider applying to colleges that my colleague Halima has mentioned here. Apart from this, I wanted to give you a guide through other options you can take,

Bachelor of Pharmacy

Bachelor of physiotherapy

BHMS - Bachelor of homeopathy and medicine, surgery

BAMS - Bcahelor of ayurveda, medicine and surgery

BTech Biotechnology/ Industrial biotechnology

BTech Chemical engineering

BTech Bioinformatics

BTech Bio Medical engineering

I have mentioned only BTech options above as you dont want to study a BSc. However, BSc can also give you a great life. Many students underestimate BSc. But completing a BSc, then a MSc and then a PhD can give you a Doctorate position in your field. This is highly reputable position and many students at school dont understand this. You can choose BSc Psychology, Biology, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Medical technology as your possible routes suited to you to become a Doctorate.

Please write back if you require further assistance.

Best wishes,
Gomathi

Dear Aspirant
Thanks for contacting us as your query is valuable for us and we always try to realize your dream with our experiences and conviction to motivate you utmost. This is the primafacy of our profession to diagnose your problem in any shape so be happy and comfortable to read our points that is very much factual and illustrative.
1. As my fellow colleagues have already mentioned the eligibility criteria and shown you the alternatives which are very much convincing at technical ground so be prepared according to our joint effort to facilitate / enlighten you by several realistic opinions.
2. As I am not convinced about your dual purpose one is your plan t be dentist at the same time you are going for switching over from dentist to another way, what is that? It indicates your ambiguity due to the lack of self belief. Try to understand the reasons behind all these negativities why you are think in fragile way ---work out on this aspect before getting any other substitute then you will realize that getting defeated with your own wills is the lack of preparation and poor understanding of your strength at academic level. If you will not come out from this juncture then nothing is possible. Based on the above mentioned philosophy you start to diagnose your problems and give a new direction with your firm believe to do something in your life.

Agricultural Engineer

3. Based on the basic analysis you are suppose to re-start your preparation for medical entrance test but make sure that you are the right candidate and and why you should be a dentist?

4. If you get the answer from your sincere effort then must listen it and give your best till the success is achieved, rest technicalities have already been explained from our side earlier.

5. If you get response in any other way around then think accordingly but screen the suitability factors outside and inside the candidature only then you move ahead. Now a days people are migrating abroad or some eastern Asian counties like China and Singapore for medical studies, if you can afford the cost of study then must give a though to it not a bad idea.
Hope above suggested points will be helpful for your future career.

Best wishes !
