Hi

Thank you for contacting us. It is my pleasure in helping you direct in your career. I understand you want to be a researcher in Physics. To become a researcher in Physics, you need to complete a professional research degree i.e do a phd in Physics. Check yourself what branch of Physics you liked the most in your Physics degree and what area is barely researched and what area you want to further explore.

Build a research topic by reading lots of academic journals and articles. the more journals you read, the more it will help you to develop a research topic.
There are many divisions in teh broad arena of Physics. You can work as a researcher in these areas: To name a few
1. Astrophysics: it is a study of planetary motions and the objects/materials in it. this is the most popular branch of physics and UK, USA has many opportunities available in this field.
2. Atomic and molecular physics- this study involves the structures and characteristics of every atom/molecule in universe.
3. Geophysics - it involves the study of attributes of earth
4. Biophysics - this branch combines biology and physics to understand physical laws in life.
5. Mechanics - it studies the movement of bodies. it is well close to mechanical engineering and students studying this degree can also work in manufacturing/ automobile companies. they can work with any company that involves manufacturing of any sort of machines.
6. Cosmology - this study explores how universe started, how its structure was formed and how it evolved.
7. Thermodynamics - it is a study involving the thermo (heat/pressure) movements in physical bodies. again, this study can also help students to perform in mechanical industries.
8. Theoretical physics - it is a study involving assumed theories. scientists are constructing models of earth/ universe to understand how the earth will behave on different circumstances. it is a new and booming branch of physics.
There are many more branches of research in Physics and your interest will develop only after you engage yourself in research. To start with, talk to your professor at college and ask him to advice you on some hot topics that badly needs to be researched. Read related academic journals in that area and see if it is within your interests and if you can develop. A researcher's work is continuous. The researcher should be always finding new and innovative things and therefore his job is not like other normal jobs. They need to be up to date on whats happening in their research field and should engage with other researchers in that field. But it is a genuinely interesting career as you will anyway seriously contribute some of your findings to the world.
Good luck.
