Hello there! I am glad that you approached CareerGuide.com for your son's career guidance and I am sure that we will be able to help you out. As an Educationist, I have been couselling commerce/management stream students for more than 7 years now. I have also been into writing and teaching for many years now. Choosing between Chartered Accountancy and BBA and later MBA is not a simple decision to make and also is a very common confusion in students and parents. Considering your son's father a businessman and he suggesting for doing Chartered Accountancy, according to me, he is suggesting right. Also I am sure that your husband has built the business not by luck or being simple, but by working hard and thinking strategically at all times. Though CA course is difficult than BBA/MBA, that should not be the deciding factor of choosing the option. CA course is a fantastic course in itself and gives all the business angles. The back bone of every business is based on finance and people management. Therefore a business needs to be effectively managed in finance and people, so your husband has thought it rightly to suggest CA as an option. Further management course can be done after CA. CA+MBA is a fantastic qualification combination and pretty much famous in the industry too. I am very much sure that choosing the difficult way (as far as course difficulty is concerned) is a good long term decision. Also you will agree that once a Charered Accountant, his progress is assured and then couple it with a part time or distance learning MBA, will be the best. You as parents will have more pride if your child gets his CA and then an MBA
