Dear @AdityaJalan
Hi Aditya,
Your question seems to be quire generic. Please be specific.
Please do let us know what is your qualification, your line of interests etc, so that we can help you in your said query.
Wish you good luck...
I am M.Tech in Software Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering (2014 passout). Prior to that i had worked in a software company for 2 years. (2010-2012). June 2014 - May 2015 I again worked for an year at Samsung research. I quit this May as I didn't find myself well suited for that job. Reasons being :-
1) I don't enjoy the corporate sector which is more or less isolated from society. 2) I am just average in coding, reason being I just did it for the sake of job and not at all passionate about it so, in long term i don't see my growth as others do by switching companies.
I thought on it and 2 things strike me that I feel good based on my skillset and interest.1) Academics sector, joining as an asst. professor at some university.2) Going for govt. sector jobs.
Currently, the problem is however I am interested in teaching, there is no growth until and unless I am a PhD. Again, since I am not inclined towards research it's a tough call to invest 5 years of life at prestigious universities for PhD. I doubt if I regret later. Without PhD I don't see growth neither money nor reputation.
Secondly, apart from UPSC other govt jobs seems mediocre and being Mtech I don't wish to waste my time preparing for those things However, I m studying for Civil Servicesfor last 6 months. But fear and uncertainity pulls me back.
I would like to know the best alternative at this stage and whether there is anything which I can look upto.
Thanks.
At this juncture, where you have seen and experienced the world, I think you are matured enough to deal with small insecurities and uncertainties in life.
Best is that you have analysed yourself perfectly and know where your future lies.
The only thing now you need to do is come out of your fear and inhibitions. There is nothing called as not being able to do something. If you have an interests and are ready to put in the required effort and there is a goal to support you, no one can stop you.
At this point, I want you to sit and write down your Goal and ways you can reach it and the obstacles you face while reaching the goal and how you can deal with those goals.
Probably you can have a confederate with whom you share and ask for help when you face fear along the way to reach your goal.
Please note that passion and grwoth are two different things.Though you may have passion for growth too.In-case you are passionate about teaching, go ahead and teach and do not worry about the other requirements.
Please note that once you are happy and are able to put in your 100%, money will follow. At the same time, you can teach in different University as a Guest lecturer and mind yu they do earn well. At the same time, you could also teach in coaching classes and or open a class of your own.
What you need is a Goal and work towards it.
Wish you good luck Aditya...
