IES means the Indian Engineering Service. IES exams are conducted by the Union Public Service Commissions. A student who has completed the engineering degree is eligible for the UPSC IES exams. IES exam is one of the toughest exams in the world. IES exams are conducted in the four stages and there are 6 tests. It is expected by the student to qualify the all six tests and then they are appointed as the IES officer. To be eligible for the exam you need to have a B.E/ B.Tech. Student should be an Indian. In graduation you need to have a percentage minimum of 50% in the graduation degree. The age should be between 21 years to 30 years on qualifying the IES exam you can work in the any of the government sectors like railway, roads, defense, manufacturing, inspection, supply, construction, public works, power, telecommunications etc. The appointments of the Group ‘A’ services are made by the president of India. Apart from the IES posts you can also apply for the IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS etc. posts too. In defense sector also you can make a good career by qualifying the Common Defense Service exam. Through IES you can join the various departments of the Government like Railway, Telecommunication, Geological Survey Department, Power etc.
