First upon to correct you, it’s not any sort of entrance exam but basically a competitive exam where at each stage some candidates don’t get through and some will qualify for the next stage and finally the fixed number of students, say 1000 as it has been usually, get selected for the IAS,IPS,IFS, etc.
The procedure involves here for filling up the application form is a simple one and it needs you to log on the official website of the UPSC, i.e. www.upsc.gov.in or www.upsconline.nic.in. There will be a simple online form. You just fill the mandatory information regarding your academic degree and personal details, etc. Then you have to pay the fee which is only 100/- rupees except for SC,ST,PH and Female candidates who are exempted from the payment of the exam fee.
Lokesh, you need to have an Academic Degree from a recognized Indian university. The exam will be conducted in three stages, namely, the Prelims, the Mains and the Personality Test. The Prelim is an objective test whereas the Mains will be of descriptive nature. Personality Test is simply an interview.
When we come to the next coming exam which you can apply for, is Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2017 for which notification will come on 22nd February 2017 and the Prelims will be held on 18th July 2017. The selected candidates will write their Mains exam on 28th October 2017. The above dates are declared by the UPSC itself on its official website.
