Dear Aspirant,

seems that you are pursuing a degree in Fishery science or you already have. Anyways, i would like to say that the scope of fishery science is huge in India and abroad. Lets me first tell you job opportunities in India. a fishery scientist has job avenues in government as well as in private sectors. In government organization, a fishery scientist will have opportunities in Universities, research institutes. Here the job will be academic and research oriented.

In private companies persons are recruited in various fields, such as fish nutrition, fish breeding, fish genetics and fish rearing for export or food purpose.

Let me give you my example, I have done M.Sc and PhD in Microbiology, when I was pursuing my masters degree program, my seniors used to tell me my colleagues, that you all are in wrong place. The subject of Microbiology is saturated now and by the time you will obtain your degrees there will not be any job opportunities for you. Believe me those words some times de motivated me to pursue my degree program. But after completion of doctoral degree, when I tried to look jobs in market, there was a huge demand not only in government sector but also in private sector. Still this subject is in high demand. My students ask me the same question, I tell them only one thing that first you complete your degree program and then try looking for jobs.

Similarly, in the case of a fishery scientist, there is no dearth of jobs, Just try to look in news paper or surf the internet. At initial stage you may get a job in a research project, but after gaining some experience you will be eligible to compete for better jobs in universities and institutes.

The job job opportunities in western countries and also in middle east is huge. One can find job related to his or her subject of specialization. You have to first decide that you want to go for academics, research or wish to join a private company. There are many private companies who are in the business of fish rearing, breeding and then exporting for food purpose.

In my opinion and on the basis of my experience, I do not see any job saturation in the field of Fishery science. It is a ever green and growing subject and field.

With all my best wishes...
