What are the career choices of Economics with Maths &Informatics with Maths? What do you think which choice would be much better? But really at the end of the day I want to do Media, but I want to keep a safer option which is eventually Commerce. Thank You for your help :D

Hi there,

Thank you for putting across this question to us at MeracareerGuide and I personally thank you, as you ignited my inquisitiveness.

Now firstly let me tell you what Informatics is all about.

Informatics is a field whereby an informatic executive would be researching new information to help him solve issues pertaining to diversified field, like medicine, physiology, biology, IT and so on.
Now to gather information, one may refer to existing data and at the same time perform a statistical analysis to understand that data in correlation to the data found.
Here then comes the techniques which statisticians or mathematicians follow, which we commonly refer to as statistical analysis or data anlaysis.

Hope you are now clear with what informatics is all about.

If you have got a little picture, then you will now understand that Economics is a wholesome subject, in which statistics or Math and informatics is a part and parcel.
When you study Economics, you definitely will touch base on informatics, but there would be more focus on statistics, as Economists also work as a Financial advisers to companies.

As an informatics executive, your job would only be research, that is basically to delve for data and then do a statistical analysis and present it to the adviser, who then would take the further decision.

Else opt for Economics, whereby apart from the analysis, you would also be a adviser to the organization.

As far as your next question, of Math is concerned, please note that Math is an integral part, whether you study economics or Informatics. It cannot be skipped.

Hope this answers your query.

Wish you good luck.............

Dear Aspirant,

Informatics Practices has been introduced very recently in the curriculum. The reason behind introducing this subject is due to the fact the information is increasing every millisecond and it is required to be managed, filtered and analysed to be useable. For information and data to be usable for a productive purpose, Informative is a tool and technique.

However though there is a choice between Economics and Informatics Practices, I feel and since I have mastered in both those fields, would suggest you to take Economics. Without Economics, knowing Informatics will not help.

Informatics helps or is a compliment to Economics and not the reverse.

For a long term perspective I suggest you to choose Economics and Maths,

Best wishes
