Agriculture engineering is basically the application of all engineering in the field of agriculture to solve various problems related with farm mechanization, productivity and development. This branch of engineering is concerned with solving the engineering problems of providing food and fibrefor the people of the world. These problems include designing improved tools to work the soil and harvest the crops as well as developing water supplies for agriculture and system for irrigating and draining the land werenecessary. Agriculture engineers design farmsteads in which to house animals or store grains. They also work on problems of processing, packaging , transporting and distributing the food and fiberproducts. Agricultural engineering combines the disciplines of mechanical, civil, electrical and chemical engineering with a basic understanding of biological sciences and agricultural practices. Some agriculture engineers work directly with farmers. Most, however work with companies that manufacture and supply equipment, feeds, fertilizers and pesticides. Others work for companies that provide services to farmers such as developing , irrigation and drainage systems or erecting buildings and facilities. Agriculture engineers have bright career prospects. They can work with manufacturing companies,fertilizers and irrigation companies, agriculture cooperatives, agriculture manufacturing units, Farming companies , water resource management, forestry, food processing , rural developmentorganizations etc. etc



To excel in this profession one must have a scientific & technical temper, an analytical mind, imagination, interest in problem solving & technological development , good powers of observation to detect early signs of diseases in plants, animal and polutry.Advisory or supervisory work requires in addition the ability to get on well with people, as also tact and diplomacy. Teaching requires the ability to communicate, the ability to provide practical and factual information simple language, patience and ability to infuse enthusiasm for learning in students. Researchers should have the ability to work for long periods with intense concentration, a keen analytical mind and a strong scientific bent of mind.
