Hi friend

Biotechnology is a tool which deals with entire living beings starting from uni-cellular to multi-cellular, prokaryotes to eukaryotes, plants to animals.

Based on this systemic classification biotechnology is devised in such a way where bio-technologist defines their own way to explore the career.

Following fields you can include associated to biotechnology:

1. Plant Biotechnology/Agri-biotechnology: deals with plant system which confers the plant tissue culture, plant molecular biology, medicinal research based on either Research and Development or Academic approach. Forestry also comes as a joint venture wherein tree biotechnology tree health program being associated.
2. Environmental Sciences: One of the major issues also being dealt with biotechnology whether you talk about soil, water and air pollution. Though chemical and agricultural scientist are having predominance in this field. Even engineering side becomes the need of hour as a collaborator for biotechnology.

3. Medicinal research: Immunology, clinical research having taken up as a vital course of action in biotechnology

4. Food Technology: One of the fascinating field worldwide

5. Agronomy, Animal husbandry and Fisheries: Branches of Agriculture but bio-technologists are playing major roles as investigator

6. Molecular biology, Biochemistry: Common tools for all disciplines in biology

7. Bio-nanotechnology: Emerging technology complementing biotechnology in drug discovery and other biomatrix or as a nanomaterial

8. Bioinformatics: Common for all due to its significant role in dry lab, before setting any experiment specifically in proteomics and genomics you can have a predicted model to save your time, money and effort. In silico analysis is possible due to the data base access program in bioinformatics

9. Biophysics: Instrumental analysis is possible with the background of fundamental sciences (phyics, chemistry and maths)

Above listed fields are the choice of your career. Very important to tell you that interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approach have become the need of emergence to bring your research ahead.

Hello

Just to add some extra subjects on the fields of Biotechnology. Here are a few more. Biotechnology is vast ocean and it deals with many subjects. The term 'bio' means life and it is a technology that deals with all that has lives, like plant, animals, microbes or even human.
Here are some more branches in Biotechnology that I would like to add up.
1. Animal biotechnology: Deals with animals, and formation of animal hybrids.
2. Biomedical engineering: Deals with hospital instruments related to patients. Understanding of operating and functioning of complex bio instruments that deals with patients admitted in hospital.
3. Genetics and genetic engineering: Understanding of genetics in human body and analysis of DNA RNA structures of human, animals and plants altogether. It aims to understand how genetics causes certain diseases and how could it we stopped.
4. Biostatistics: It involves in sampling species of bio/lives especially in research. It is a mix of statistics and biology to count the number of samples taken for a research study. SO it involves everything you will study in a statistics subject like the mean, median, mode, regression, calculating average. This technique is followed only in research or dealing with large scale production.
5. Enzyme engineering and technology: It involves studying of enzymes, their nature and reaction to certain foreign bodies in human, plants and animals.
6. Bioprocess engineering: It involves the study of processing certain biological species while manufacturing medicines. It studies the nature of species and they should be processed.
7. Chemical reaction engineering: It involves the study about reaction of chemicals and lives in manufacturing medicines.
8. Bioethics: It involves the study about laws and ethics that should be followed by companies in testing biospecies like animals or humans. It is an ethical subject that every biotechnologician need to follow while doing his resaerch.
9. Genomics and proteopmics: It involves in modelling and restructuring of genes and proteins in human, animal and plant bodies to find new structures.
10. Antibody engineering: It is the study dealing with antibodies, its formation and regulation.
11. Industrial biotechnology engineering:It involves the study of large scale manufacturing of medicines.
12. Protein engineering: It involves the functioning of restructured protein in human bodies.
13. Biopharmaceutical technology: It studies the functioning of microbes in producing medicines.
14. Bioentrepreneur engineering: It deals with the subject of entrepreneurial skills in setting up a company dealing with biotechnology.
15. Vaccine engineering: It involves in the study of modelling and restructuring new vaccines from microbes.
16. Stem cell engineering: It involves in the study of stem cell in human body and their applications.
17. Cell biotechnology: It involves in study of cell functions in different organs of human, animal and plants.
18. Cancer biology: it is the study of cancer and cells in human.
19: Blue biotechnology: It describes marine and aquatic biotechnology. the study of under water world organisms and their applications.
20. Red biotechnology: It involves in the studying of medicines, pharmaceuticals and vaccines all together.
21. Green biotechnology: It specifies anything and everything that deals with innovation in agriculture.
22. White biotechnolgy: It specifies industrial biotechnology that specifically uses enzymes and catalysts on large scale to produce medicines.
23. Aquatic biotechnology: Study of sea organisms as stated above.
24. Viro biotechnology: Study of different forms and structures of virus in human, animals, plants and birds.

Good luck.
