There are following things that a web designer should keep in mind while making resume:1. Keep it shortMention only the most relevant details on your resume. Ideally it should fit on one page. Do not include unnecessary data or information.2. Make it simple and easy to readDo not make it complex. Instead keep it as simple and plain as it can be, so that the other person can interpret it easily. The easier you keep it for them, more they are going to like it.3. Links to your current projectsDo not forget to mention the links to the current projects that you are working on. Also, do highlight your previous projects and their links. Your work will give the most clear idea about your skills. Do not underestimate your work. Even if you have done small projects, do mention them.
4. Do not use a templateA little help from here and there is all right, but just imagine how bad it will appear if a designer has copied a template from somewhere. Never ever do that. Work on your resume. It's all about you. Spend some time to make it more presentable and interesting.5. Use updated skillsIt will be very interesting for any employer to see your recent learning and works. It is always advisable to keep your resume updated but we often forget to mention the recent learnings.6. Visual resume are becoming popular these days. Many people also use infographic or pictorial resume. See below:Hope you will be incorporating these ideas to create a nice resume.
Dear Aspirant,
The points in the previous answer are just pointers of writing a resume.
However as a web designer, your resume should contain the job details and the software you have working knowledge and command on. Further, you should also separately prepare a portfolio where you can demonstrate the actual work done by you as a web designer. For switching jobs, portfolio is asked by almost all companies since it reflects your real talent and skill.
Best wishes
A resume is a ideal place / Opportunity to exhibit your designing talents.
Show to the world in the shortest possible time, about your skills.. say a few seconds.. that is the time most will have to look at your profile, in case they land up there for some reasons.
Try using free sites, pages, create a good portfolio as suggested earlier. But just have an ordinary profile wont take you anywhere.. It has to be really innovative, creative, eye-catchy and of course, your original work!!
Good luck!
Ben
