Geographers can work for various depenging upon their knowledge ad skills . Some of the areas where they can work are :-

Teaching - Teaching in schools/ colleges / universities is an excellent option for post graduates in geogrpahy.

Urban Planning - Geogrpahy has a direct link with urban or city planning. Town planners wotk on land use, and new developments. State and local governments emply geographers in planning and development commissions.

Climatology - Geography studenys can also find jobs in meteorological departments, news media , the weather channels and other government entities.

Transporation Mangaement - There are opportunities available in local government , transit shipping , logistics and transportation companies for people with transportation geogrpahy , good computer and analytical skills.

Environmental Management - Alot of environmental assessment , cleanup and management companies exist throughout the world today. A geographer assist in development of environmental impact reports.

Cartography - People with specialization in carography are required by news media, book publishers , atlas publishers, government agencies , map publishers , travel agencies and others for producing maps.

GIS Specialist- State Governments, private groups are often requires GIS professionals. Geogrpahers are responsible for mapping, intelligence work and remote sensing interpretation.

Writing/ Research/ Tour Journalism- One can find employment in travel journalism or work as science or travel writer.

Community work- They can work with NGOs and other developmental agencies engaged in population studies, rural development , environmental issues including solid waste disposal system and emergency services.

the other answer has described the helpful options for the geography students. if you are interested in research or teaching than geography is a good option for you. you can apply for UGC NET geography after your post graduation. UGC NET is held to determine candidates for lectureship and JRF awards. 

The NET qualified candidates also have many opportunities in their subjects like, become a lecturer, Get stipend / fellowship, become a scientist and research associate, work as teacher in institutes, get a job in PSUs, work in laboratory, become an author or publish your articles etc.

You need to decide first that in which work you are interested more and apply for your choice. hope it will help you.
