The working hours of an Electronics and Telecom Engineer vary company to company and also depend on the kind of industry that you are working in. Let me provide you the detailed information on this that might be helpful to you.

1. If you are working in core electronics industry then you will have to work mostly five days a week and the number of hours depend on the company you are working in. Usually companies expect you to work for at least eight hours excluding one hour lunch break. That is the general rule but it may also vary depending on the project situation. Sometimes you will have to stay late.

2. In case of electronics industry you will mostly be working in the day hours. Only in the rarest of the rare cases when they are working with USA clients they may have to work for night shifts otherwise not.

3. Traditionally electronics industry is not known for its flexible timings but some companies have taken this initiative too. It may depend on the team that you are working with. In case the team members are comfortable with some other timings, then you can work flexible hours after getting the approval from your project manager. But it is usually not encouraged in most of the companies.

4. When you are working in the telecom sector, chances are that you will find yourself working more often than relaxing. The telecom sector demands high levels of commitments and therefore you may be expected to work on weekends as well. Of course if you work on weekends, you will get some other days off. But since the industry is prone to sudden last minute emergencies that you will have to resolve, you may be called from your home anytime. It is more like a job of any doctor where the emergency can take any time. You will have to be ready for it.

Therefore the timings are pretty much dependent on the industry and company that you are working in.
