Before we address the question, “What does it mean when it is said that BBA is a professional course?” we need to look closely at the meaning of two terms BBA and ‘Professional course’.

BBA (Bachelor in Business Administration)

Bachelor in Business Administration is a course that earns the student a graduation degree with ample prelude of knowledge about business, finance, management. To take up BBA, it is advised that a student has a good hold over Economics and Commerce. However, that is no compulsion, of course.

Professional Course

Professional Course typically means the kind of course which can equip you to be hired for a specific and full time, decent paying jobs in the field of your study. It trains you directly for employment and not necessarily for academic excellence. So, basically, any course which awards you a degree to establish yourself in the market is a professional course. While there are some popular professional courses, BBA is perhaps the most popular of these.

So, what does it mean when it is said that BBA is a professional course? It means that a graduate with the degree of BBA can directly be employed without the further need of post-graduation like in so many other cases. It also means that someone with a BBA degree would be able to start working and earning professionally earlier than most of his/her batch mates. But, is it advised?  That depends solely on the graduate. Of course, it is wiser to follow up a Post-graduation course for enhanced skills and chances at a better paying job. But, this is no compulsion.

Now that the question has been answered let’s take up a few other relevant questions.

What makes BBA a professional course?

The first question is what makes BBA a professional course. To answer this we need to look at the course that is studied during BBA.

During BBA, a student is given an overview of business practicals and processes, to develop communication skills, quantitative reasoning skills, and business analysis skills. The student is also made to understand the role of economics in a global marketplace and acquire significant knowledge about the issues prevailing in business at the global level. This said, the course of BBA is made to study business theory, business law and ethics, economics, fundamentals about entrepreneurship, E- Business, and project management. Thus, the course is highly focused on business and economy. This will naturally train the student at dealing specifically with matters of business efficiently. Since a market is a must for all economies to exist and flourish,

BBA with the field of its study as discussed will always enable the graduate to get hired without a Post-Graduation degree.

The next question is - What is the role that a BBA graduate is hired for? And this question stands right beside our original one- What does it mean when it is said that BBA is a professional course?
