The typical salary of a Computer Engineer varies greatly across the industry and the companies they work at. The median salary is a good way to look at the overall scenario in terms of paychecks.

Median salary is the amount where half of the professionals would be earning more than that amount and half would be earning less. It is different from average salary. Below is the record of median salaries of Indian Computer Engineers expressed in Rupees.

Years of Experience Median Salary (in lakhs per year INR)

Computer Engineers with specialized skills set are often paid more. In case one has the work experience of working abroad, it will pay you more. The cities also have variations in terms of salaries. Hyderabad and Bangalore - which are called as IT hubs have more salaries than other cities.

Salaries also vary according to the companies that you are working in. Some of the internet giants like - Google, Amazon, facebook pay huge amounts while the other IT outsourcing players like Infosys, TCS pay much lesser. The recruitment process in more lucrative jobs is often rigorous which is quite obvious.

If you want to get quick jump in your salary, you may also go for higher education - either M.S./M.Tech. or MBA.
