hi
I am doing btech in electrical enginnering and interested in programming. I already asked counseller how to achieve goal in programming.....but I also want to do masters degree. 1. So what is good option for me.. job on basis of programming or MBA or Mtech? 2. Is it possible to do Mtech in different stream? 3. Do software companies asks for GATE score? 4. As Mtech in IIT and MBA in IIM is of greater values.Do their degrees are a good option to achieve good carrer? 5. Also I had a two year drop before taking admission in btech. Does this hinder in taking job in software companies? 6. I have low budget and despite if I would like to do MBA from abroad. Are there some scholarship to help me through my budget?

Hi Mohit,
You are in an interesting line of study. But what I am confused here is, being an Electrical engineer, how can you work as a programmer????
As far as i know, electrical engineers deals with generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Mainly dealing with the circuit of a gadget.Programmers are the one who generate new software and update the existing ones.
Probably to get into Programming, you would require a Software certification like a BCA, or may be you have pursued one already.Since you wish to work as a programmer.
Secondly, M.Tech would be a masters degree and we generally master in a subject to get in detailed knowledge on the subject matter. So preferably obtain a masters degree in the subject that you have already acquired knowledge in.
Thirdly to be successful in the job market, degrees do not count. What counts is the end product or result. Mainly your contribution in the industry. Basically an output based on what you have studied. Though names like IIT and IIM, give you an easy get through with top companies and probably a good stat to your future.
Lastly, student who have the desire, a way is always there. There are many places that offer scholarships to students to study abroad. Either you can search the net or contact an Abroad education consultant, who would be able to help you out.One word of caution here is, please do check the syllabus of the foreign university, in sync with the Indian standards. This is mainly because, after an MBA, you would have to decide where exactly you wish to work. Indian industries, do not place much value to a foreign MBA, since the work culture differs in both the countries. Thus a thorough check before you take a plunge.
Hope this helps you to plan your future.
Wish you good luck..........
Dear Aspirant,
If you are interested in Programming, then I would suggest you to go for MCA and not for MTech or MBA.
Which is good between MBA or MTech is upon you and your interests, aptitude and likings, since both are diverse fields.
Best wishes!
