Dear friend, many thanks for your question, I am happy to reply through CareerGuide. Here you have not mentioned your academic qualifications and what you are doing at present. Let me tell you something about zoologist, then you will have some idea of their nature of job. The salary of a person or a zoologist depends upon many factors.
The zoologist study the animals and their behavior. Technically speaking a person holding a post graduate degree in zoology or related subjects like, animal behavior, animal ecology or animal conservation can be called as zoologist. But now a days, due to severe competition for any job, the person holding a doctoral degree have an edge over a post graduate person.
The salary of a zoologist (a fresher also) depends upon the academic qualifications, relevant discipline, place of work and additional achievements.
The place of work could be governmental sector, which includes the schools, colleges, universities, research institutions, governmental laboratories.
The person holding a post graduate degree of zoology is eligible to make an entry into school as teacher, the salary of fresher as PGT is Rs. 7500-12000 with a pay band of Rs. 4200 per month, while the TGT gets salary of 7450-11500 with pay band of Rs. 4600.
The entry level of fresher in colleges, universities and research institutions as lecturer, assistant professor or assistant scientist is in the pay scale of Rs. 15600-39100 with academic grade pay of Rs. 5400.
The zoologist who join university or institute in a research project gets fixed salary of Rs. 18000 per moth for first two years, and in third year the salary is Rs. 21000.
The zoologist with some relevant experience and with some additional achievements, such as published research papers and review articles in the journals of international and national repute will be beneficial to make entry in research and teaching field.
The zoologist working in zoo and museum, gets a salary of Rs. 25,000-40,000 per month, depending upon the experience of the person.
In my opinion, you should make yourself academically and technically qualified for the subject and you will get your dream job.
With all my best wishes...
