JEE Main and Advanced syllabus
For every admission season, all the engineering aspirants face the same questions like which engineering college to choose, which one is better IIT VS NIT, what is the difference between them, what makes IIT more strong then NIT. For these type of questions, we are here to debunk the major points that may help students to choose their college wisely. IIT’s branded as Indian institute of technology are group of 23 institutions for quality engineering education in the country, actually the best education. On the other hand, NIT’s branded as National Institute of technology, are a set of 30 Institutes that are maintained by the national government in order to provide better education in major engineering sectors.
For any Confusion Regarding Career Paths – Take here: Psychometric Career Tests including Ideal Career Test
IITs and NITs both have become a greater brand in engineering education in the country, but most of the IITs are maintained by MHRD (Ministry of human resource department) which means directly funding by the central government. Whereas NIT’s are maintained directly by the state government and divided state-wise, which means the state has to maintain all the possible affairs and hence leading to less investment. Due to this on the basis of infrastructure, IIT’s always had an edge over nits. And all the societies and amnesties are well maintained or funded in IITs.
But this is not the only considerate factor. Some of the IITs are old, in fact, the first-ever IIT-Kharagpur was established in 1951, which leads to almost 60 years of excellent education. During this span of time, so many new IITs were founded and attempts are made to achieve the same quality. NITs, on the other hand, are more recent, and a new approach based. The faculty and establishment of NITs are based on new and progressive ideology and are working in order to achieve the aura created by IITs in a very different manner. Due to an earlier establishment, IITs have an age and experience factor and hence older IITs provide better quality in comparison to new IIT’s and NIT’s both. In fact, some of the older NITs are much better in every standard than then-recent IIT’s
Since engineering is a very vast field and there are multiple streams to opt for, each institute standalone is very importance in a specified field. Like for example, in terms of the computer culture of CS/IT or any Software related streams, IIT-Delhi is considered to be the best. After that comes NIT Trichy, IIT Hyderabad, and NIT Delhi are other giants. The culture followed in these institutes for coding perspective and software development is off the charts. Other than that, for core sectors like mechanical and electronics, IIT Mumbai and IIT Kharagpur followed by some NITs like NIT Kurukshetra and NIT Jamshedpur are considered to be the best. So choosing the right interest in order to choose the college is a must.
The infrastructure and faculty are not the only factors that define the quality of an institute. The culture, social influence and placements are other factors that had to be considered in order to standardize the better institute and hence, the culture of most the IITs are innovation-oriented, and as a result, they have established multiple research labs and provides better machinery and facilities to students in order to carry out their research and hence projects undertook by IITs are widely accepted. On the other hand, NITs are productivity-driven and hence, they mostly work in order to understand every aspect of production. This might be the reason subjects like economics are a part of their curriculum. Apart from the approach followed by two institutions, the social presence of IITs over ‘tedx’ and other massive open online courses gives the IITs worldwide acceptance. Other than that, NPTEL a.k.a National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning started by ivy league IIT’s and is later joined by NIT’s creates an equal reach of both the institutes among engineering aspirants and pursuers.
NIT, due to its adaptive curriculum and higher productivity, has a major rise in placements and providing better jobs to each and every student. Although the IT sector is still majorly active in offering students higher jobs from IITs NonIT sector is a big opening for NITs and has a better record of students performing great over there. Also, Alumni of IITs are widespread across the globe and are supporting their institutes, and as IITs are founded very much earlier than NITs, higher Alumni counts put IIT in a strong position. But by a statistical approach, due to a large number of NITs the impact of alumni on making the institute strong is equalized and hence, in the context of placements NITs are better than IITs.
It is always there the power of alumni because somewhere back off the mind you get noticed if alumni of the Same it is there when you are going for job and graduates of IIT is all over the world like Sundar Pichai so ya its definitely matters.
Job opportunities following NITs are similarly excellent, but they are closer to home, with packages starting at around Rs 8,00,000 per year. However, there are exceptions. There are some NIT grads who have better job offers than her current IIT student. Only by your own merit, talents, and knowledge used in full size at the proper moment will you be placed in designated MNCs!

On a concluding note, both the group of institutions are equally strong and trying their best in order to gain more interest among people, but as time passes, their importance is increasing. And Comparing both groups will not be adequate and hence, individual institutes and as per their culture and the course faculty should be taken in context, to determine which one is better than the other.
