Hi Prinka

Yes, it is really disappointing for most of the students when an IT company sets the criteria of 60% above in 10th, 12th and UG/PG for campus selection or recruitment. But if we think about this percentage criteria, the main problem of most of companies is that, companies coming for campus drive placements in your college have no other option because they come with the only expectation of taking 40 - 100 students strengths maximum in a single day, Where the colleges has about 1000+ aspirants. So to decrease the number of aspirant’s crowd they fixed a common criteria of the percentage that the aspirants must have 60% and above in all 10th,12th and UG/PG courses. I also accept that, there are really good programmers even with less % in comparison to fixed criteria of a company which is in your case too. But the best way to figure out this problem, try to get the same jobs in small companies first rather than apply for TCS, Wipro, Accenture etc top IT company and always try to perform well in smaller companies. Once you have got some experience and earned some good name in the small companies in which you worked, then you can easily go for any repeated company where you want with the experience but not with the criteria of marks scored in 10th, 12th and UG/PG. The percentage criteria of marks are only set in campus drive and recruitment. It is only set for fresher students not for any experienced one. So, its a better way of thinking about getting a job in a small IT company where they won't set any percentage marks criteria of educational qualification, even if you are a fresher. They will see only your present knowledge and programming skills. So take your time to think over it. I hope now you are well understood all these things.

Dear Aspirant,

Companies have only one tool to short list or filter candidates and that is on the basis of percentages in the degree or masters courses.

Generally top companies ask for minimum 60% in the degree or masters course. Generally 10th or 12th std marks are not a determinant for jobs for freshers at first instance, however if they are very low, then you may be put on waiting list by the companies.

Best wishes
