The role of the academic records can be extremely important in certain cases and not so in the others. We need to understand this in detail as why and when do the employers stress on academic records while hiring the manufacturing technology engineers:

1. If you are a fresher and do not have enough work experience then your academic record will matter a lot. This is important because this is the only criteria on which the employers can judge you. Of course there are internship and projects also but the academics results define the core part of your education and your performance. Thus it is advisable to maintain nice academic records, as they will help you a lot in getting the first job as a manufacturing engineer.

2. When you have enough work experience you rarely need to display the academic performance. Again the reason is same. In that case you will have enough work to show on your resume and the employers will have many other criteria to judge you, your work experience being the major one. Therefore you will not have to worry about the academic records at later stages of your careers.

3. The good academic records suggest that you have been consistent and disciplined during your education. Therefore mentioning them on the resume always have a positive impact, assuming that you have maintained good academic records. Once again not to forget that the significance of academics will not be the same after years of your work experience but if you have performed well in the related subject where you are looking for the job, then you can always highlight that fact and use it in your benefit.

4. While applying as a researcher or in the universities, the importance of the academic records goes up. This is because in such cases, the consistent performance and the theoretical knowledge is greatly valued, unlike the industrial sector where your practical skills and knowledge matter more. Thus depending on the job that you are looking for you need to maintain your academic records.
