Electronic engineering, is an engineering discipline where non-linear and active electrical components such as electron tubes, and semiconductor devices, especially transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, are utilized to design electronic circuits, devices and systems, typically also including passive electrical components and based on printed circuit boards. The term denotes a broad engineering field that covers important sub fields such as analog electronics, digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power electronics. Electronics engineering deals with implementation of applications, principles and algorithms developed within many related fields, for example solid-state physics, radio engineering, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, systems engineering, computer engineering, instrumentation engineering, electric power control, robotics, etc.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is one of the most important and influential organizations in this stream

There are various individual/state and national level engineering exams conducted all over India.

The basic eligibility criteria are 10+2 or equivalent examination, with 60% of marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Selection to the graduate courses (BE / B.Tech.) is based on merit. Several regional engineering colleges and private engineering colleges use the student’s performance in Class XII board exams as the primary criterion for admission

Their work involves from the initial brief for a concept; to the design and development stage; to the testing of prototypes; and to the final manufacture and implementation of a  product or system.

Electronics and communication engineering course give enormous job opportunities in electronics and software companies.  It also gives great opportunities for research and development, as everyday consumer need new devices to support them in daily life.

There are plenty of jobs for skilled electrical and electronics technicians with postsecondary qualifications. But the job is becoming more competitive and there are not so many jobs for people with lesser skills. Technology is improving productivity for many of these jobs and thus holding down job growth.

An electronics engineer can get a job in Central/state Government, in public enterprises, private organizations, AIR, Indian Telephone Industries, MTNL, Civil Aviation,P&T, National Physical Laboratory, BEL, Development Centers dealing in manufacture, sales and services of electronics consumer goods and appliances.

Electronics engineers are also absorbed into the entertainment transmission industry, research establishments, and defense. They can also take up teaching and research in one of the many engineering colleges in India or abroad.

Core companies offering jobs to Electronics and Communication Engineers:
BEL, ECIL, Intel, Samsung Electronics, Sony, Toshiba, Philips, Texas Instruments, LG , Nokia, AMD, CISCO, HP and IBM are just few to mention.

Employment for Electronics Engineers to 2016-17 is expected to grow very strongly. Electronics Engineers have a high proportion of full-time jobs.  Unemployment for Electronics Engineers is below average. Electronics Engineers are employed across several industries including: Manufacturing; Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; Public Administration and Safety; and Retail Trade. The (internet) vacancy level for Electronics Engineers is high. The mix of industries employing Electronics Engineers is favourable for employment growth prospects.

The professional skills required for a person in this field are

  • Analytical and Logical abilities
  • Ability to operate or design complex equipment
  • Technical competence
  • Tendency to question the obvious
  • Bright memory and learning power
  • Theoretical stronghold with practical knowledge

Hope this helps

ECE stands for Electronics and Communications Engineering involves inquire, designing, developing and testing of electronic equipment etc, for example basketball stars unblocked is a product of this industry. ECE is actually one of the toughest branch in engineering but it depends on you whether it is hard or easy to study.
