Hi Nisha,
You seem to be in a lot of confusion. If you have a feeling that you are in a right field then there shouldn't be any dilemma. You might not like recruitment but there are various other works in the HR sector and you can work in those areas also like training, work-force planning, performance management etc.... You can also try and change the work in the HR department itself you do and then see if you like it or not.

In order to look for a career that suits your personality you should look for your strengths and weaknesses, your interests and most importantly your aptitude. If you find a career in relation to these you will never be in doubt later on in your career.

Best of Luck!

Hello

Good to hear that you have build up some good number of years by working in the HR field. Added to this your MBA with HR is definitely a great strength. This definitely explains that you have a strong base in the field of HR to excel. For a person to excel in his career, a degree plus a few years of work experience is highly essential. With your case, you have both and therefore you are already on the right track towards excelling in your career. You have also expressed that it feels good for you to work in the field of HR, and this is actually sufficient to say you are highly suitable for working in the HR sector.

Reading on your inquiry, I see there is only one thing that needs a change and thats your HR work profile. You have been into recruitment since you started your HR profession and I highly believe you should be bored to work within recruitment. This makes you ask if HR is right for you.

Recruitment is not the only section within HR and there are few more branches within. In general HR professionals happen to rotate through every department within MNC's. However few companies never allow this rotation and keep their employees stay with only department all their life. Apart from recruitment, as a HR professional you can work in these departments too,

Entry and exit formalities
Payroll
Learning and development
Employee counselling
Performance appraisal
Employee engagement/ corporate trainer

You should check if you have the facility to work in any of the departments above within your company. Ask your manager, if you can migrate to any of them and if yes, please accept the offer. Also talk to employees from each of the department to understand whats it like to work in such roles, hows their day to day work life. When you start networking with other HR employees from these departments, you will develop an understanding of new areas and you can easily come to a conclusion where you want to migrate to. You may also note that in case you want to migrate to certain departments like employee counselling, you may need an extra certification like specialising in psychology/ couselling. So ensure you get those added qualification. To my knowledge, almost every employee within the HR department can request for transfer to other departments during promotion interviews and if you have a similar opportunity within your company please make use of it.

Finally I would confidently say you are suitable for HR, but you really need a change in your work profile. Try getting out of recruitment and explore other areas of HR and you will enjoy your work even more. All the best.
