The broad business knowledge is very important for any Business Analyst as the job requires that. Below are the explanations how and why it is important.

1. A Business Analyst has to work across a range of industries in their projects. One has to quickly learn and adapt to the new industry. Therefore it is very much required that they have the prior knowledge of the industry that they are getting in to, so that it becomes convenient for them to start working immediately on the project.

2. Business Analysts work on business cases. These cases often involve the knowledge and understanding of the businesses and therefore the expert work is important for that purpose. Once they start working on the case, they have to do their research and gather the data. Later they do calculations on that data. If they have deep understanding of business only then they will be able to interpret the facts right and derive the right conclusions.

3. Business Analysts have to attend meetings, seminars, training programs where the regularly share their knowledge and expertise with others. In such scenario, it is important for them to have that knowledge so that they can share themselves. The learning in case of business analysts' profession is all about business knowledge and practices. There is no other important learning for them than to understand the businesses well and the processes that work there.

4. Business Analysts have to constantly interact with the clients. They have to understand client's business immediately else they might lose client's faith. Therefore they need to have the right skills and learning so that they can easily grasp client's point of view and provide them the relevant solution. That way only they can provide their valuable contribution to the business world and serve their purpose.

Therefore it is very much required for Business Analysts to have that knowledge and sense of business.
