Hello there,
I am unable to understand why as an engineer now you wish to make a career in the finance ssector.
Please note that a shift in the finance sector makes your engineering career and degree a failure. Think over it and then make a choice. I would strongly recommend an Aptitude or career counseling test available here at mera career which would highlight your potentials and help you make a determined choice.
BFSI stands for banking, finance and insurance sector. Mainly we see this domain in IT or retail sector. Eg. Tech mahindra. Mainly helping customers buying easy by providing them banking help, financial investment and lastly insurance.
Thus you would have to have a strong knowledge in all the 3 sectors banking, finance and insurance.
Yes. Pursuing an MBA in finance would help you get knowledge in the sector. But what is majorly required would be experience. You could pursue certifications from The banking and finance institute of India. A thorough knowledge in terms of investment banking, retail banking, business development, mutual funds, insurance etc is a must. Which academics will just skim through. Only experience will work.
As such before you make a choice, I would suggest get into the industry and based on your experience choose a course.
Hope this helps.
Wish you good luck....
Hi, Sawan ...
Fintech is the exciting new face of banking. If you are in software or related fields, there cannot be a better time to enter the banking industry. Do take up a MBA in Finance or Specialization in Banking/Insurance to understand the field.
Jobs in Fintech involve development of software, tying up with business partners and vendors, maintenance of platforms, business development. The entire gamut of financial inclusion, payments, mobile and online banking falls under it.
Read up on the sector, talk to a few people working in it, and do take up an assessment test.
Dear Aspirant,
Many engineers are seeing selecting commerce/management fields after their engineering. It is definite that you have realised that you wish to be in the commerce or management domain very late. Hope you understand that when you choose BFSI domain for your future career, your engineering and the money spent, time spent and energy consumed will go waste and will have no value. You also wasted an engineering seat.
However are you aware that being an engineer you can work for BFSI domain in software companies. Software companies get contracts from BFSI companies for doing their technology work. You need to explore this option before deciding to jump into the core non engineering domain.
Hope you are now pretty sure that BFSI is the option for your for your life now and there will be no more back tracking.
To be in the BFSI, you can be into marketing, finance, hr, international business, etc. You will have to choose and decide one domain to work towards that in terms of acquiring qualifications.
MBA is a course (full time) is recommended.
Best wishes
ss
