Any course you choose is definitely a little difficult, but CA is the toughest as even the best student is stuck at least once in CA.

The certificate course can be done as a backup just to revise your concepts while you working in the HR department.

But to know about the HR function, best is to go through the MBA channel.
For an MBA program, you would have to appear for various entrance exams like CATt, CET, ATMA and the likes. or else do a part time whereby you would just have to clear the group discussion and personal Interview.

HR is basically man-management, but not completely understanding human behaviour. As human behaviour is a part of Psychology. But never the less HR also uses a lot of psychology especially Counseling skills to help employees settle down their grievances.
Some of the HR functions you would be exposed to are:
  • Recruitment and Selection, through interviews and testing. Here psychometric tests can be used for selection
  • Payroll management, wherebyhandlingthe employees salary and deductions and petty cash vouchers andbonus given to the employees
  • Grievance management, here you would address employees grievances while he is employed and later when he resigns get to know through counseling the issues he faced during employment
  • Performanceappraisal, the most difficult job to handle in HR, whereby you would have to rate theemployeeonhis work assessment and provide a progress report.Basedon which he either gets promoted orstays at the same level.
  • Trainingand development, mainly to helpemployeesgrow in theorganizationand get adjusted to the newrulesandregulations required tofunctionin the organization

These are the major roles an HR plays in an organization. Since their job is mainly interaction with the employees, so knowledge on body language and behaviour gets essentials to deal with the employees.

Wish you all the very best...............

HR management is definitely an interesting and never a difficult business. HR management is the evolution of human behaviour studies and what you heard is 100% true, HR management is almost understanding human behavior. Lots of people develop a myth that HR people are only restricted with basic administaration duties within a company and this is totally wrong. The answer is it is much more. HR Management usues sociology and psychology too. For an example, HR management has developed with a new combination of social science known as the industrial/ management or organizational psychology where the subject is a mix of sociology+hr+psychology+management. So people studying the industrial/ managerial or organizational psychology are indeed the HR's, working within the HR department. Sometimes they are also named as Industrial psychologist or organizational psychologist.

It is upto you to study a combination course with psychology. If you prefer a course that combines HR and psychology then you will have to study MA Industrial psychology/ organizational psychology/ Organizational behavior or MBA with Organizational behaviour. If you dont want to combine psychology, then doing the basic HR management is sufficient.

HR duties:
As a Hr of a company you will be involved with the following roles step by step where generally people start from the first step known as recruiting.
1. Recruitment:
You are involved in selecting and recruiting the suitable candidates for the vacancies in your company.
2. Communications:
3. Training and development:
You are involved in assigning candidates with training and addressing their needs for development. The line managers will report to the HR requesting for scheduling certain training and you will organise them for the employees.
4. Learning and development:
This is not a need based but often all the employees must undergo this learning and development courses. As a HR you will again be responsible for organizing classes for your employees, and please note HR with psychology often are suitable candidates in conducting learning and development programs.
5. people counselling:
If you have a background in psychology/ org behaviour/ counselling psychology or org psychology then you are best suited for this role. You handle employee opinions poll, surveys, greiviances and many more.
6. Payroll:
7. Performance feedback:
HR also works on performance feedback with line managers to understand the bonus or incentives taht has to be credited along the pay check for employees.
8. Entry and exit handling:
You may be there to conduct induction program for new joinees and as well do the exit interview for employees leaving the company.

Hope this helps.
