Dear Student, To become a Professor in Biochemical Engineering (A Teacher in Higher education institute like Engineering College) first and most important to complete the Bachelors in Biochemical Engineering / Biotechnology, The second thing is in India, it is necessary now as per the AICTE norms to aquire the M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. in relevent branch of engineering in which you want to do the teaching. For example the student doing B.E. and M.E. in Biochemical Engineering specialization can take a teaching job in Engineering college for teaching a Biochemical Engineering Course. Again, for the promotions it is necessary to do the Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering to get the Associate Professor and Professor positions in teaching field.

As per the AICTE and UGC norms now a days, the PG and PhD is becoming must for getting a good salary job. There are lot of opportunities along with teaching job for getting the Consultancy and Research Opportunities related to Biochemical Engineering.

For doing Post graduation, it is necessary to give GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) which is conducted by IIT and on getting the good score the admission is given to M.E. / M.Tech programme depending upon the score and AIR (All India Rank). The government also pay a scholarship of Rs. 8000/- per month for the students who get the GATE score.

After completing the masters in Biochemcial (M.E. or M.Tech) the students can apply for the teaching job in the college where this course is offered. Depending upon the perfomance in interview and competition, the selection is done.

After joining teaching profession, the candidate can apply for Ph.D. programme may be full time or part time depending upon the topic / guide and research place constraints. After finishing the Ph.D. programme, the candidate is promoted to Associate professor scale and Post. After successful completion of 5 years of service as Associate professor, the candidate is eligible for Professor.

The Teaching job needs a passion for Teaching and Research which is most important in enjoying the duties in this profession. Especially, the girls find this job more interesting because of the limited job hours, plenty holidays and no need to work beyond the office time limits which make it more happening for the womens candidate. Offcourse this is also important and attractive for the gents candidates also.
